Do you want to know a little more about Beach Soccer? Before you catch a ball and throw yourself into the sand, we tell you the most interesting rules of this growing sport.

Beach Soccer Rules

Beach Soccer provides spectacular action, lots of excitement and some other surprise. Its parallelism with classic soccer is evident, but it has certain characteristics and rules that make this modality a true spectacle.

Three parts of 12 Minutes

Beach soccer matches are divided into three 12-minute periods. In turn, they are divided by two three-minute breaks. Time stands still due to different circumstances: every time there is a goal, an infraction or when the referee considers that a team is wasting time.

Unlimited substitutions

Gary Fixter One of the great factors that make beach soccer a strategic sport is this characteristic. Each team begins each match with five players in the arena, a goalkeeper and four field players, as well as seven substitutes.

All substitutions, including goalkeeper substitutions, can be made while the game is still running, using the designated area. This is a great strategic and determining factor for the final result of beach soccer matches.

No ties

Win or lose! There is no other result in the arena. Do not try to play to tie because the play will not go well. At the end of a tie, an extra period of three minutes will be played. If after this time the tie persists, luck will be played on penalties. As a last alternative, the Ballon d’Or rule will apply.

Direct free kicks

Every infraction of the rules is penalized with direct free kicks. It is thrown from the place of the foul, you have 4 seconds to make the shot or the shot will be for the opposing team. The player who is fouled must execute the free kick.

Reprimands

Two referees are responsible for ensuring fair play in beach soccer. There are different kinds of warnings:

* Yellow card. Similar to classic football, the yellow card penalizes one type of foul.

* Blue Card. In case of receiving a second yellow card from the same player, a blue card is issued (another yellow card cannot be obtained). The player must leave the field for 2 minutes. If your team receives a goal, it can automatically exit.

* Red card. Two blue cards equals one red card and the player’s final expulsion.
